Mrs. Doug emailed the update:
"We just got the report on our second week. He moved from dependent in
expression, problem solving, memory to maximum. From maximum in
showering, dressing, transfers from bed, mat to minimum. They changed
our discharge date to 3/24/2012. So, we get another week of therapy.
He is doing so good and trying so hard:)
Today he was able to lift his legs and put them on the mat and on the
mat when he would lay down without any help. I told him he had to be
able to do that because after I had knee surgery he made me do it. He
smiled and winked at me. He has not been able to do that before
today.
In speech he is able to recognize the pictures she asked him. What
she is trying to do is develop a way of communication between us with
pictures right now until the speech comes. We have all realized you
still can't give him too many commands at one time. He just can't
grasp it.
In PT he is able to walk 90ft. The cross over with the right foot is
getting better. If we can get him on course he can really take off.
Today with staffing of the therapists the schedule we usually have was
canceled. So, it is now almost 5:00 PM and he has been up since
8:00Am this morning.. He can't wait to get in bed tonight.
We,re going to supper now. Love ya'll"
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. 2 Timothy 1:7-12
