Bro. Dale had a good day today.  He was kind of sleepy this morning when the speech therapist came by to work with him, so they were not able to get a lot done.  The therapist said that it is normal for stroke patients to have a sleep cycle where they are more alert for a few days and then more sleepy for a few days.  So she was not concerned by his sleepiness.  This afternoon he was more awake.  He really lit up when he got a call from Janice.  Mrs. Doug has been working with his right hand a good bit and Bro. Dale doesn't like it.  She says she can tell he is getting sensations back in his hands though.  She told him that he was going to have to tell her to stop and not just shake his head at her if he wanted her to stop!  She explained to him where he was and why he was there and told him he was going to have to work hard to speak and get his movements back.  The main thing Mrs. Doug is asking for prayer on right now is that he will become more and more alert.

Whitney Casey visited with Bro. Dale today and said that he was encouraged to see how mentally alert Bro. Dale was.  He was clearly able to recognize him and could tell that he understood what was being said.  It's just going to take a little time for all the connections to come together and him be able to respond.

"2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."  James 1:2-5
