Dec. 18, 2011

Mrs. Doug called this afternoon and said that Bro. Dale had been admitted to the Tupelo hospital (room 596).  He has what appears to be a touch of pneumonia.  They said his lungs didn't look that bad, but the consistency of the fluid was such that they wanted to go ahead and get him in for treatment and closer observation.  They did a culture and will know more tomorrow.  Pray for healing for Bro. Dale and strength and encouragement for both he and Mrs. Doug.

Tonight the choir presented the Christmas musical, and they did a wonderful job, but it wasn't quite the same without our dear pastor and beloved Mrs. Doug there to celebrate with us.  We had a special time of prayer for them and they were certainly there in our hearts.

We are thankful to have had Joe Smith filling in preaching  for us today and the past two Sundays.  Today he had us focus on God the Father who gave us his Son.  And on the love that was shown in Emmanuel, God with us.

"9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love."  1 John 4:9-16
