Nov. 30, 2011

Bro. Dale has had a good day today.  They sat him up in a chair for about 4 hours today and he was alert and holding his head up by himself and looking around.  During that time he met with the speech therapist and the occupational therapist.  He didn't get quite as mad at the speech therapist today.  :) She is trying to get him to open his mouth some.  Pray that he will be able to open his mouth and that he is understanding what she is asking him to do.

The occupational therapist said that she could feel some resistance in the right arm, which is a very good sign.  She is going to use some electric stimulation to get the muscles awake, moving and strengthened.   Pray that the movement is voluntary and that he will be able to control it.

They are trying to wean him off the IV medications that he was receiving for heart rate and blood pressure control.  They want to start giving it to him through the feeding tube, which would be equivalent to taking it by mouth.

The UTI seems to be getting better as well and his fever has stayed low today.

Overall, he's had a pretty good day!  Thank you, Lord!

"15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:15-18
